Join our Children and Young People Community of Practice (CoP) to learn with other like-minded practitioners, further develop your local referral networks, and participate in information sharing to improve the health of children and young people in our community.

Target Audience: All primary health care professionals and other interested services

Topic: Mental Health of Children and Adolescents

Keeping children and young people healthy and happy involves looking after their mental health as well as their physical health. It is widely acknowledged that early intervention and prevention during childhood and adolescence is the most effective way to address mental health issues. Our speakers from headspace Woolloongabba will present an overview of the prevalence and types of mental health disorders in children and adolescents, risk factors and screening, and services available to assist young people with emotional and behavioural problems.
